Local Industries (LI) was born following a budget crisis during the realization of the Edward Said National Conservatory of Music (ESNCM), with the idea that research could be a synonym for a more sustainable, more comfortable, and more interactive design.
It has become since a growing network of artisans, architects, engineers, and designers working together to make structures of different scales, from industrial design furniture to large scale structures. LI explores the capacities of widening or subverting know-hows to new uses. LI considers the process as a means of minimizing energy consumption between design and realization.

The programme organized by Studio-X Amman included 2 round tables with Dana Abdulla, Rana Beiruti, Deniz Ova, Mohamed Elshahed, Karim Kattan, René Boer, Jawad Dukhgan, Antonio Ottomanelli, Ignacio Evangelista, Allison Hugill, Eduardo Rega & Nora Akawi.
